Grand Parents Day
my grandson who is 4 yeras old studies in Pumpkin Patch in Pune, he is in play group. Day before yesterday there was one invitation from the school that they are celebrating Grandparents Day on friday in the school. Only Grand parents were invited.
Today is Friday, i got ready and drove to the school. I was hesitanat as i didnt know anyone there.everyday i go to reach him and bring him back ffom the school. There is no interaction with any one there, as it is all young parents come there so its obvious its difficult to mix with these young parents, i think its natural. anyway, I reached there, the teachers welcomed me, and directed me to go to a room. Oh..this was my baby's class room. I eneterd there and saw many grand parents were seated and doing some thing..i just took a look...oh ..those who were seated , were busy in some creative work...material for painting, craft , clay sculpture and writing etc. Since the furniture was limited, many GPs(grand parents) were standing..but luckily i found a place where only three ladies were stiing and pasting some sequins on paper. I found paint and brush...since i wasnt ready to find such thing so i got confused as what to make...anyway..i painted trees and wrote a caption'SAVE TREES and PROTECT NATURE'...it was a small but very fulfilling act.
Next we were asked to go upstairs ...where games like'tol-mol ke bowl'(bowling alleys), throw the ring etc games were arranged. I tried my hand , but couldnt aim ...it was a good try. In a room all the GPs were sent where a game of Antakshri' was played. I sat there, many couples were there.. the antakshri game started , teachers were taking very active part, they looked so enthusaistic...and were encouraging us to sing...the game started .. the opposite group had many men and ladies who knew so many old songs...and in my group there were few old men who were singing the songs of bygone era...I too tried to sing with them..but alas...i couldnt, my voice was breaking and i couldnt sing in high pitch...I tried to sing in a very low volume...it was so funny ..felt awkward too.after spending about forty minutes, i came down where many were standing in a queue, it was for the snacks. we were given four coupons for snacks...there was ' hot tomato soup, Healthy bhel, Potato smiley and rasgolla' i had everything except bhel...The chairs were spread out in the lawn...people were enjoying eating and talking to each other.
I was sitting alone, as i didnt know any of them, neither was interested to speak to anyone. i didnt have any clue..as what to say or how to start conversation with any of them...all were aged and some were old...i was one of them, every one must be having some or the other problem, i was thinking about life of grand parents at home, it made me little sad. its not that everybody was sad or having problem...many must be happy too...
There was one thing in common...everyone had a reason to be happy...their GRANDSON/DAUGHTER these kids really give us happiness and make our lives meaningful. Their unconditional love motivates us, it fills our lives with satisfaction...Kids are source of joy...
everyone loves their grandson/daughter very much, really ..and thanks to this school which gave us importance and value.
